Gaia Converter offer DC/DC, AC/DC converters and front end filter modules that meet the stringent requirements of the military and avionics industry, and hence are suitable for the most demanding on-board converter applications.  The DC/DC power range extends from 4W to 150W modules with a variety of 2:1 and 4:1 input ranges and 10:1 and 5:1 input range with the 100-150W modules.
Hi-Rel converters are designed to withstand harsh environmental conditions; therefore the modules are potted with a military qualified thermally conductive soft compound and packaged in a five sided metal case. These devices work with a case temperature of -40 deg C up to +105 deg C and can have an optional test to ensure start up at -55 deg C. To provide full system capability Gaia also provide modular Input Filters for conducted noise compliant with MIL-STD-461D/E/F (FGDS series) and Protection Modules to meet the transient and spike suppression requirements of MIL-STD-704A/D/E/F (LGDS/PGDS series). Gaia also provide a useful Hold Up module (HUGD) to charge up a storage capacitor to an elevated voltage then discharge the capacitor to support the following DC/DC converter(s) when power fails and provide status flags.
The High End Industrial Range supplied by Gaia is very similar to the Hi-Rel range in power and input capabilities, however it also includes a 36-140V input range that suits the rail industry. For these electrically noisy environments Gaia provide a Transient Limiter and 8.4kV Spike Suppressor that, when used with the Gaia DC/DC converter provides RIA 12 and EN50155 protection. The Industrial Range is rated for a case temperature of -40 Deg C to 95 Deg C.  Output ranges depend on the modules; however singles duals and triples are generally available except for the higher power levels where singles are the norm. On all modules input to output isolation is 1.5kV whilst the 10W module is available to 3kV in a plastic case.  Two AC/DC converters are also available:
35W Isolated 115Vac nominal input, Power factor Corrected, variable frequency 360-800Hz converter with dual 17VDC output. ABD 100 compliant. Package 76.9 x 42.9 x 12.5mm
350W Non-isolated 115Vac nominal input, Power Factor Corrected, variable frequency 360-800Hz or 47-440Hz converter. ABD 100 compliant.  A further version is available with 85-265Vac and 45-65Hz input capability. The output is 375VDC and is provided in a 2.4 x 2.28 x 12.7mm package. Typically this output would be fed to one or more Gaia 150W DC/DC converters that offer 120-480V input and a selection of single outputs. The DC/DC is in an identically sized package to the AC/DC converter.
