Macrodens™ DC/DC modules offer high MTBF figures

Campbell Collins, the technical distributor of electronic components, is to supply the expanded range of surface mount DC/DC power modules from Ericsson Microelectronics.  Designed to meet the requirements of the telecom and datacom industries in the new telecoms world, all of the devices offer MTBF figures of > 4.9 million hours making them ideal for use in projects where reliability and long life is specified as standard.

The Macrodens™ PKF series from Ericsson have been developed for use in Distributed Power Architecture (DPA) applications and on true component level on-board power solutions.  Available with input voltages of 18 to 36, 36 to 75 and 18 to 75 V, the PKF series offers 1500 Vdc isolation.  By utilising advanced topologies, materials and manufacturing processes, the modules deliver market leading efficiency combined with reliability in industry standard footprints.

By using synchronous rectification, the recent PKF-B series delivers up to 5A output power whilst retaining excellent thermal performance and high efficiencies, typically 85%.  The rugged transfer moulded package makes the devices suitable also for traditional application needs such as industrial and instrumentation projects, because of the fully moulded construction the PKF is compatible with aqueous and semi-aqueous cleaning utilised in modern production facilities.

All modules are approved to EN60950 and UL1950 safety standards and the mechanical design offers the choice of through hole or surface mount technology delivered in ready to use tubes or tape and reel packages.

The Ericsson product range is fully supported by Campbell Collins application specialists and samples and datasheets can be requested from us on 01438 369466.
