I have been hammock camping for a while. I use a ego inflating therma-rest matt in chilly weather. Something I detected this fall was that my military wool blanket doesn’t compress, and works almost as well as the therma-rest. I did have the mid evening adjust but being able to wrap the blanket up added warmth and felt very nice. I have gone down to the low forties with only the blanket( I get drunk at a friends camp, hadn’t schemed on staying, but had my blanket and hammock in the trunk) and was comfy. Granted I am a warm sleeper, but the blanket serves multiple purposes and within reason work. Has anyone else shared this experience? Secondary lesson: Hammocks keep drunks off the road.
